Welcome to Salón 301!
This will be our class blog where I will be posting announcements and important information about our classroom. Please make sure to follow this blog as well as our 1st grade blog (camarenafirstgrade.wordpress.com) where general information about the grade level will be posted.
I will be editing and creating this blog as we go. If you have any specific things that you would like me to post in this blog please let me know!
It saddens me to have to write this letter to you. For the past couple of weeks I started to have complications on my pregnancy. I had been going in and out of the hospital for monitoring. This past weekend, I was not feeling well, and my husband and I went to the hospital once again to see if everything was OK. Unfortunately, I was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and was told to stay on bedrest at the hospital for the rest of my pregnancy. It turns out that I am at the beginning stages of preeclampsia and the only way to cure this is to deliver my baby. Fortunately, because it is still the beginning stages, they have been able to control my blood pressure and my blood tests have not shown any changes, so the doctors are trying to do the best that they can to let my baby go at least to 34 weeks (I am almost at 32 weeks). Because this was detected on time, I was fortunate to receive steroids for my baby’s lungs so he can be strong if he has to be delivered early. My husband and I are now in good spirits that our baby will be OK.
These past few days have been a rollercoaster for my husband and me. It devastates me that I have to end the year with your kiddos this way. It has been truly an amazing year and I could not be more grateful to have had such a wonderful group of kids and parents. I was not able to say goodbye to them and do everything that I had planned for this week. I wanted to maybe record a video to say goodbye to them, but I don’t want them to see me like this, and I am sure I would cry. Please tell them how proud I am of all of them for all their accomplishments this year and how much I will miss them next year. I am sure they will do amazing in second grade. I wanted to thank you all for your constant help and support this year and hopefully we can work together again in the future.

We are almost ready to perform next week and we are very excited about it! The dates we will be performing are:
Wednesday May 31 @ 8:30-9:45
Thursday June 1st @ 1:15-2:45
We will be performing the same show on the two days. We ask that you please choose only one of the dates to attend.
Your child should wear all black or dark colors to school on those days.
Happy Thursday! I sent home a yellow paper indicating the testing windows for the end of the year Local Measures assessments. You can also find the schedule below.
The assessments that our class will be taking are:
- 1st grade Reading (Apr. 24 – May 19 individual testing)
- 1st grade English Writing (Apr. 26 – Apr. 27)
- 1st grade Spanish Writing (May 2 – May 3)
- 1st grade Math (May 17 – May 18)
I understand that some absences are inevitable, but please try to make sure that your child attends school for the next few weeks. We have all worked so hard all year, but we are also doing a lot of reviews to prepare for the tests. Your child would also benefit from getting enough sleep and eating nutritious breakfasts every day.
Thanks again for all of your support, I can’t believe the year is almost over!
Hello! I sent home a donation box for each student to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If your child collects cash (coins and/or bills), please make sure they bring it to school to put it in our classroom box. You can also donate online. The class that collects the most money will win a Pasta Party from Olive Garden. 🙂
I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Spring Break. I am excited to see the kiddos tomorrow!
Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow will be a minimum day and dismissal is at 1:15 pm.
Report cards were sent home today. Please check your child’s binder.
I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time and meeting with me for our conference. Your constant support is very valuable to me and especially to the kiddos.
I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Spring break. I look forward to coming back for our last quarter of the year!
